Each kit contains a fully colonised living block: open the box, cut the growing window, mist daily and watch layered clusters develop from blush pink to vivid coral and deep rose.
Sakura is THE GRIB’s most visually dramatic warm-room oyster kit. Its overlapping, fan-shaped caps can range from soft blush and salmon pink to saturated coral, deep rose and burgundy tones. As the cluster matures, or when light and growing conditions change, the colour may soften toward pale pink, beige or brownish shades. That natural variation is part of growing a living organism.
This tropical Pleurotus djamor culture tolerates heat exceptionally well and remains active at temperatures that slow many cool-weather oyster mushrooms. In a warm, humid and well-ventilated room, pins can form quickly and then develop into a harvest in only a few more days.
The crop is as interesting in the kitchen as it is on the shelf. Fresh Sakura oysters are firm, succulent and savoury. Some growers notice a distinctive marine or seafood-like aroma in the raw mushroom; high-heat cooking softens that note and develops deeper umami, toasted and bacon-like flavours.
